Windsor, Nova Scotia is gearing up for the second annual Avon River Days Festival, and all signs point to a record-breaking crowd this Natal Day weekend. From Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3, locals and visitors alike will fill the streets, waterfront, and West Hants Sports Complex for three days of music, entertainment, and community celebration.

A Festival That Belongs to Everyone

First launched in 2023, Avon River Days has quickly become a highlight of the summer calendar. Last year, an estimated 5,000 people attended the festival. That success sparked even greater momentum among volunteers, businesses, and residents who are bringing the event back for another year.

“Our goal has always been financial accessibility,” says Lisa Bland, Chair of the Avon River Days Society. “Most activities are either free or entry-by-donation, which means everyone can take part in the fun without worrying about cost.”

Weekend Highlights

This year’s schedule is packed with events designed to appeal to every age and interest:

  • Friday, August 1 – Festival Kick-Off: Pro-wrestling, musical performances from Battle of the Bands winners, and local shops staying open late to join the fun.

  • Saturday, August 2 – A Day to Remember: The Grand Parade, Car Show, Tug of War tournament, Kids’ Carnival with bouncy castles and games, Vendor’s Village, and the brand-new Rock the Rink concert.

  • Sunday, August 3 – Tradition Meets Celebration: Antique Tractor Show and a grand fireworks finale curated by Fireworks FX.

Rock the Rink: A First for West Hants

The big news for 2025 is the launch of Rock the Rink, the first large-scale concert to be held at the West Hants Sports Complex. Headlined by Joel Plaskett Emergency (their only full-band show in Nova Scotia this summer), the lineup also features ECMA award-winning blues band Ced, Marty, & Dave, and the Chairmen of the Blues. Tickets start at just $35.

More Than a Festival

Avon River Days is about more than entertainment. It is about connection, inclusion, and pride of place. With many free or low-cost events, the festival reflects the community’s vision: bringing people and community together.

Whether you are here for the music, the parade, or simply the atmosphere, Avon River Days 2025 promises to be a weekend to remember.
